George Fall (1848-1925) - View of York Minster from the River Ouse
  • George Fall (1848-1925) - View of York Minster from the River Ouse

George Fall was born in York and is known for his watercolours of the city. He studied at the York School of Art and later went on to teach in York and Selby. This view from the other side of the River Ouse was a favourite position for the artist with other similar compositions known from this location. York Minster despite being in the distance is the centre point of this picturesque scene.

Medium: watercolour on paper, signed l.l. 'Geo Fall', 17.8 x 23 cm, framed.

Condition report: the watercolour is in very good condition with some toning along the edges possibly from a previous mount. The frame has a few small chips (examples shown in the photographs).
