Thomas Tudor (1785-1855) - Castle in a Landscape
Thomas Tudor worked in the style of the early English school of watercolourists. Our picture is reminiscent of Thomas Girtin, Edward Dayes and John Varley with Tudor using a muted palette. The composition depicts a castle in the distance with possible rain clouds blowing ascross the landscape. The artist was born in Monmouthshire and spent a lot of his time painting in Wales, therefore it is likely our drawing is a Welsh scene.
